Europe is generally appealing to foreigners because this is the continent that offers a variety of different cultures, traditions, and many other things. But apart from these things, what attracts people from all around the world is the standard.
Even though I do not say that in other countries/continents, life isn’t as good, the truth is, in Europe, you can find excellent job opportunities, very lucrative salaries, and much better government support.
So it doesn’t come as a surprise why so many people want to move out there. However, since there are more than 40 countries I can’t mention all of them, but I will do my best to discuss the ones where the standard of living is truly great.
Beautiful Portugal
For a lot of ex-pats, Portugal is a real heaven on earth. Why is that? Well, that’s because it has a very good climate, spectacular education opportunities, top-notch quality of life, and economic development.
Not to mention the fact that this country is not pricey at all, especially if you decide to live outside of its capital. What I personally adore about this place is the fact that its people are very warm and kind.
They absolutely love foreigners and are always in the mood to get to know them better through numerous social opportunities for social integration. That’s precisely one of the main reasons why you should move there.
In Portugal, you will never feel like you don’t belong. But is it difficult to move? Well, to be frank, it isn’t as much. Particularly, if you decide to take citizenship by investment, then it’s even easier. So what does it mean?
Namely, this means that you will get the chance to get residency in this country through real estate investment. If you have the means (at least 280 000 euros), then you will quickly be able to become a resident of this country, which is particularly great if you have a family.
Moving On To The Netherlands
I traveled to the Netherlands numerous times, and each time I was blown away by this country. Not only is it breathtaking, but what I love about it is how people are warm-hearted and friendly. You will get a feeling like you’ve known them your entire life.
Maybe that’s one of the reasons why the Netherlands is so highly rated among tourists and those who live there. According to the statistics that I’ve found online, it has a spectacular 9.5/10 score for work-life balance.
How incredible is that, right? And if you’re not a workaholic (just like me) then you will probably be blown away by the fact that they work less than 30 hours per week. Please, take me there in an instant!
I know that you probably think you’re dreaming while reading this, but that’s nothing but reality. Namely, employers and the local government believe that every single worker in this country must have enough time for their hobbies, friends, family, etc.
They believe that a balance between life and work must be created. I told you they are wonderful! Another shocking fact is that approximately 0.5 % of employees stay in the office later than they are supposed to.
Always Neutral – Switzerland
No matter how hard I tried, I simply cannot be neutral when it comes to Switzerland. That’s because it is one of the best countries on this continent. if you want to live in a place where everything is relatively slow-paced and calm, where you do not have to stress over everything (including taxes), then this is the place to go.
It wouldn’t be an overstatement if I stated that Switzerland excels in practically every aspect. According to its citizens, out there you can easily find a great job, the quality of life is generally at the highest level, and the healthcare system is first-class.
Could you possibly want more? Not to mention the fact that they have one of the highest life expectancies in the world and it’s all because their people are very happy in general. And who wouldn’t be?
Speaking of taxes, it’s a perfect country for wealthy people, plus I would like to mention the fact that Swiss banks are generally extremely safe and the corruption is literally non-existent, or very low.
Oh, and if you’re a huge crypto lover, then you’ll be glad to hear that Switzerland is very crypto-friendly. Can you easily get citizenship? Well, unfortunately, that’s probably the biggest downside of this destination.
Namely, from what I know, frequently, you need to wait almost twelve years to get it, unless you are married to someone from this country. However, if you have over $10 million in your bank account, then you are in a much better position.
How come? Well, in these instances, this country will provide you with a flat income tax and you’ll be obligated to pay only for the annual fee, and that’s it.
And Then We Have Spain
If you loved the “story” I told you about Portugal, then I am positively sure that you are going to fall in love with Spain too. Just like Portuguese people, these people are so affectionate and friendly.
You would receive a vibe that’s similar to the one in Portugal. As far as other aspects are concerned, they are very good as well. The healthcare system is great in general, the quality of life is on an admirable level, and above everything, the prices are pretty cheap.
This just goes to show that you do not need to be filthy rich in order to live there normally. If you live in the United States, yet you would like to move to this place, then you can do so through the North American Language and Cultural Assistant program.
But does it mean that this will guarantee you permanent residency? Sadly, no. if you want to get permanent residency, then you must obtain a valid work permit.
I was daydreaming while writing this article because it took me (for a brief moment) to all those places that I mentioned above. Each of these countries is truly spectacular and I honestly hope you will find your home in one of them.
