This mausoleum also bears the tombs of Jinnah’s sister Fatima Jinnah, the first Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan, and some other eminent political personalities of Pakistan. This mausoleum is located in Central Karachi, at the endpoint of Muhammad Ali Jinnah Road. It is a white marble building that is built following modern architectural style, with curved arches and copper grills installed in simple geometric patterns, constructed on a high platform. The mausoleum building is surrounded by a huge park over 53 hectares of land.
Frere Hall – This building was made during the British rule as the town hall of Karachi, in 1865. Now it houses a library and an exhibition hall. It is located in Saddar Town of Central Karachi, next to Sind Club. It was built in Venetian-Gothic architectural style, combined with some British elements. It was made of yellow limestone, white oolite, red and grey sandstones, all of which were obtained locally. The main building has an octagonal tower at a corner, which is topped by an iron cage. Two lawns surround this building, which are now called Bagh-e-Jinnah.
Empress Market – This marketplace is located in Saddar Town of Karachi. It was built in 1889 and named after Queen Victoria. It is now the busiest market of this city, selling all types of commodities, from vegetables and grocery items to garments and pets. There are also many small shops outside this market building. Tourists can fulfil their shopping spree here and buy whatever they want. They may also visit Jahangir Park, which is a recreational park close to this market.
Denso Hall – It is a public library in Karachi that bears the full name of The Max Denso Hall and Library. It was made in 1886 to provide knowledge to the native population. It is located in Saddar Town in Central Karachi, at a triangular cross-section of three prime streets. It was made of local Gizri sandstone, following Venetian-gothic architectural style. The library and the reading room are on the ground floor of this building while the huge hall is on the first floor. A local Parsi philanthropist Rao Sahib Ramdas Morarji donated the clock fitted at the top of this building. Many of the books were also donated by different people here.
Masjid e Tooba – This mosque is also called Gol Masjid, which is located in phase 2 of the Defense Housing Authority in Karachi. It was constructed in 1969, designed by Pakistani architect Babar Hamid Chouhan. It can hold 5000 people at a time, which makes it the 18th largest mosque in the world. It has a single dome that is not supported by any pillar, roofing the central prayer hall. The entire mosque is built over the land of 4657 sq. meters while the dome occupies an area of 67 sq. meters.
Merewether Clock Tower – This clock tower was built in 1877 in memory of Sir William Lockyer Merewether, who was a successful British army general. It is a landmark of Central Karachi and marks the boundary of the city towards the port of Kiamari on the south. It was made of Gizri sandstone, in Gothic Revival architectural style, like the Eleanor Cross. It has a height of 102 feet and is built over an area of 44 square feet. There are four unique clocks on four facades of this tower, each having a 300-pound heavy bell that strikes on each hour.
