Treasure Hunters: Peril at the Top of the World
James Patterson is at it again with yet another masterful children’s book in the Treasure Hunter series. To say that my kids were excited about this new book titled Peril at the Top of the World would be a major understatement. In fact, I was afraid to let it end! They get that excited about all of his new releases. This particular adventure was extremely satisfying and kept the kids attention throughout to the very last page…. an that is hard to do!

In this particular adventure, the story is set in Russia and around the dangerous Arctic. The Kidd Family has just begun to relax after adventures in China and Germany. Even super treasure hunters have to get some rest now and then right? Unfortunately, that is not in the cards as they find out about some really important artwork that has been stolen.
It appears that a Leonardo da Vinci and a Rembrandt has gone missing. The Kidd Family, true to form, head out to intercept these thieves and figure out what really happened. My kids are five and nine years old and they both were riveted throughout the story.
My five-year-old was quick to say, my favorite part is when they are being chased. “You can almost feel like you are there!” My nine-year-old quipped, “man I would love to go to the Arctic Circle in Russia someday.” It is this type of response and interaction that makes me want to go back for Patterson’s books over and over again. We are always talking about the books and learning something new together.
If you truly want to find books that will keep your kids engaged and reading, consider this wonderful series of stories by James Patterson about the Kidd Family. You will not be disappointed and you might even enjoy them yourself!
