The Most Popular Masters of the Jedi Order: Ranked
The Jedi Order is an organization in the fictional “Star Wars” universe whose members dedicate their lives to serving as guardians of peace and justice. The Jedi are well known for their legendary lightsaber battles, use of the Force, ability to control minds, and for being good role models. Here are the most popular masters of the Jedi Order: ranked.
1. Obi-wan Kenobi
One of the most notable masters of the Jedi Order, Obi-wan Kenobi was responsible for training Anakin Skywalker who would later become Darth Vader. He also mentored and helped Luke Skywalker defeat Darth Vader and the Empire. As a widely beloved character, there are still discussions about the way Obi-Wan died. How to interpret his sacrifice? Was it heroic or not? He had a strong connection with Yoda and Qui-gon Jinn who were both known to be great Jedi, as well as with the Force itself, and many suspect his connection with the Light played a big role in his departure. In any case, both because of his deeds and the popularity of the character, it’s nearly impossible to talk about the Jedi, without mentioning the man who killed the Sith Apprentice Darth Maul, among other great deeds.
2. Yoda
The Grand Master of the Jedi Order, Yoda was responsible for training multiple Jedi including Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. Though he was smaller than most beings, his power in The Force was immense. Master Yoda could lift and control objects with his mind, use the Force to levitate himself and others, create powerful blasts of energy from his hands, and also use The Force to conceal his presence from other beings. He died in the year 4 ABY (After Battle of Yavin) when he became one with the Force. He is held in high regard by both fans and characters in the Star Wars universe, because of his wisdom, power, and compassion. And if you ever happen to meet a person that’s not a Star Wars fan in the wild, this is the character they’ll likely know the most about.
3. Luke Skywalker
The son of Anakin Skywalker, who became Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker is one of the most popular characters in the Star Wars universe. He defeated his father in combat and was able to turn him back from being a Sith Lord to being a Jedi Knight again before he died. Apart from being the main character in the IV, V, and VI episodes of the Star Wars saga, Luke also has relatable struggles and development which keep fans coming back time after time.
Known for his compassion, empathy, and excellent piloting skills, Luke Skywalker is a widely loved character for both his heroic deeds and the positive traits he possesses.
4. Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader
Anakin Skywalker was a very powerful Jedi Knight who eventually became known as Darth Vader. While some may argue that he shouldn’t be on a Jedi list, since he went over to the dark side, as already mentioned when talking about Luke Skywalker, he came back to the Ligh before his death. Fans might be divided on his role in the fate of the galaxy, but there’s no denying that he was a well-developed character and protagonist to various episodes in the Star Wars saga. Anakin Skywalker was a child prodigy and became a Jedi Knight at a very young age. He was known for his abilities and sense of compassion and heroism. His destiny, however, took him down a path to become Darth Vader: one of the most iconic villains in movie history.
Whether you’re a fan of the Star Wars saga or not, you probably know at least one Jedi master, and these three are likely among the most popular characters in the world. While there are other characters that deserve a mention due to their significance in the Star Wars universe, these four are definitely the most popular ones that became a part of the broader culture.
