I have been a Samsung fan for years now…. in fact I think that is the only phone I have owned in the last 7 years. With the purchase of my last phone, there were a ton of pre installed apps, that honestly I had no idea what they were for or how to use them. I recently discovered how much I was missing out on….. If you are a Samsung user, have you noticed that little app icon that says “Samsung Health”
OMG, did you realize this app is like a fitbit for your phone? The Samsung Health app tracks things like your activities, fitness and distance. The app also tracks your heartrate, your stress level, food, caffeine and your water intake….. and much more!
There is one more AMAZING feature that is linked to the Samsung Health app and that is an instant online doctor visits with Ask an Expert, since this feature is already built into Samsung Health, preloaded… No download is required!…. Now you can see a board-certified doctor in just minutes, on your terms 24/7….. no appointment needed.
Last week I was having the most horrible headache… one that would not go away and would tend to intensity over night… it seemed that no matter what medication I took it would not fully subside. I decided to give the Ask An Expert a try. The thing that was wonderful was, I was able to get all the kids into bed and have my personal visit done a 10pm… no interruptions, no missed work, no babysitter, it was fabulous! The doctor was very professional and gave me great attention. She asked a lot of questions as well as my headache history. We came to the conclusion that I was probably suffering from dehydration and seasonal allergies from the Forrest fires. She suggestion that I up my water intake and started taking a 24hr allergy medicine for a couple of weeks. I can’t tell you how nice this was…. AND inexpensive. Online doctor consultations are covered by many top health plans. You can even get a prescription, if needed, sent to your local pharmacy.

The great thing is you can share all the biometric data you’ve tracked in the Samsung Health app directly with the doctor you see online. This to me is excellent peace of mind because it helps the doctor get to know a little bit more about me so that the online visit is even that much more personal.
Just think…. you have a migraine… is the urgent care clinic really the place you want to be??? No, you want answers and relief in the comfort of your own home. Your kids are having an earache or they have a funny rash…. instead of calling an after hours nurse, who 9 times out of 10 will tell you, just to be safe you should probably go in…. you can face to face show the online doctor the rash and immediately get piece of mind with an answer.
Moms, always know, there is never a convenient time to get sick….. it doesn’t happen Monday through Friday 8-5! Unfortunately is happen when we least expect it. Since we are no longer in the era of house call for doctors…. this is the most awesome wave of the future! The last thing I want to do is spend a ton of money at urgent care or worse… the hospital and subject myself to more illness. The Samsung Health app is my new lifesaver!
