With germ season quickly approaching I am trying my best to be proactive and be prepared for the storm ahead. I have 6 kids spread across three different schools, so I expect the germs to be plentiful this year. Nowadays we have a preparedness kit ready for everything situation, whether it’s a first aid kit, a kit for an emergency or natural disaster, even a car emergency kit….you name it…. so why don’t we have a “Get Well Box” or get well kit waiting for us for when we don’t feel well. We all know it’s going to happen….that scratchy throat or sniffle will surely sneak up on it when we least expect it… or want it. Especially with a large family like I have, you need to be ready to get a hold of those germs before it becomes a real event. We all know, the very last thing we want to do when we’re not feeling our best, is head to the store to get comfort items and medicine! This is why I’m being proactive and heading to Fred Meyer this year to have everything ready to go in an all-in-one Get Well Box,  so the moment I’m feeling under the weather I am ready for immediate relief.

 

How To Put Together a GET WELL BOX!

• I choose a shoe size box with a lid – You can either grab a plastic one, or I got my heavy duty cardboard one that you can write on from a craft store.
• Breathe Right Extra Clear – These are a great non-medicated way to open your nasal passages for immediate relief and help you breath more freely. I have recently started buying the “extra clear” style, clear strips are easier to remove, which can be beneficial for people with dry or sensitive skin. In case you are wondering, Breathe Right is also drug free and safe to use with any sleep medication you are currently taking.
• DIAL Soothing White Tea – Making sure you have easy to use pump soaps may help remind your little one to scrub easier and more efficient. Dial Complete Foaming Hand Wash are antibacterial; kill 99.99% germs, to keep the spreading to a minimum.
• HALLS honey-lemon – These are my favorite comfort item for my scratchy throat or cough… they have the perfect amount mentholatum, with natural flavor of lemon and honey
• Kleenex Anti-Viral – This is one of my best defense items to try and keep those little buggers contained and not spread throughout the family. These are a great value as well, because they are so soft and think that one tissue is all you need.
• Theraflu Daytime Severe Cold & Cough Powders – This is powerful comfort, this will not only treat your severe symptoms but give you added relief without a prescription!
• TYLENOL® Cold + Flu Severe Warming Honey Lemon Liquid – This is my new favorite product…. this will tackle your toughest symptoms and give you that added warming throughout your chest to help you feel better. (For adults and children 12 years and older) Feel better or your money back, guaranteed!)
• Thermometer – This is standard to help you keep track of your temperature.
• Tea bags – This is a major comfort item for me, whether it is your throat or tummy… tea is what I run to
• Warming/cooling bags – Grab one of those bags that can go in the microwave or freezer… these are great from muscle aches or on the back of your neck for headaches.
• Lipbalm – If you are “mouth breathing” or a little dehydrated, your lips are first to dry out, keeping your lips hydrated will help with cracking and peeling.

Once you have created a Get Well box… you will never want to go back. Never again are you going to want to crawl out of bed to go to the store to get yourself relief or search for a 24hr store in the middle of the night. This will truly be a box that you will keep stocked and ready to go!

Fred Meyer/Kroger is my go to spot for everything I need… clothes, groceries, tools, garden and electronic…. so all my health care needs are the same!
