Are you looking for a unique gift idea this Spring? Do you have someone graduating high school or college…. maybe you have a wedding coming up? No matter what your struggle is with finding a truly one of a kind gift, your answer is Project Repat.
Project Repat takes your old t-shirts and turns this into a warm memory filled hug or great conversation piece. Just think how excited you graduate will be seeing shirts from when they won the spelling bee, participated on baseball team or their favorite school spirit shirt. Or, how about as a special wedding gift, highlighting the shirt of your first date, the outfit you proposed in or the shirt from your first concert together….. the possibilities are endless and every blanket is unique because it is YOUR STORY!
The process is simple, go to Project Repat and select the size blanket you want to create. They have 5 sizes to choose from, lap, twin, full, queen and king. The larger the blanket the more t-shirts or “panels” you will need. Now, each panel represents a front OR a back of a shirt… if you are only wanting to use the front of a shirt and not the back you will need to make a mental note that you will need additional panels.
For my project, I decided to make an exciting themed blanket to contribute to our schools annual auction. What elementary kids wouldn’t LOVE to have an Advengers, Disney, TMNT or Star Wars blanket? I chose to go with a super hero theme…. since I only had a few themed t-shirts I was able to get really cheap ones at Walmart, my total was only $40… they had great designed fronts and backs so I only needed 12 full shirts to create an amazing twin sized cozy blanket.
Once you decide the size you are going to get and have your shirts in hand, it is time to place your order. This process is very simple, select your blanket size and fleece color, pay and print your receipt (you will need to include this in the shipping box). Make sure your shirts are clean, cut into desired panels (refer to website for panel sizes needed) and ship to Project Repat. When going to the post office, check out the “if it fits, it ships” option, by going with this option, not only do they provide you the box but it saved me over $10 in shipping costs. Once they receive your shirts they will create a master piece and ship it back to you in a few weeks. Please note, if you would like specific placement or pattern of the panels they have detailed instructions on their site how to make this happen. About 12 days after shipping off those t-shirts, I had a beautiful and cozy blanket delivered at my doorstep. I couldn’t tell you how impressed I was at the quality, it far exceeded what I had envisioned of how it would turn out. So now I am going to be the hero at the school auction, providing a “one of a kind” super hero blanket that everyone one is going to want to get their hands on.
