One of my biggest weaknesses is PIZZA…. I have been known to say “I could eat pizza everyday for the rest of my life and never get sick of it”. So with that being said…. I consider myself a little bit of a pizza snob. It has to be cooked just right, not too thin, just the right amount of sauce and good quality cheese. I have tried many times to make my own pizza dough in our bread machine (and I am a pretty good cook) but for some reason I can not make pizza dough to taste the way I like it.
I had the opportunity to try Pillsbury Artisan Whole Wheat Pizza Dough and my first thoughts where…. ” I am not sure if crust from a can will taste as good” and ” whole wheat….. yeah, it’s better for you but you sacrifice taste”. Well, I am pleased to say I was wrong on both assumptions. This was one of the best, freshest tasting pizza doughs I have had and I felt good feeding it to my family. The other thing I like that frozen or take-out pizza can’t compete with, is the versatility of the dough. I can make pizza pockets, mini pizzas or a fun topping to soup or chili.
