Fourth of July patriotic games for adults
Patriotic Party Games
So you’re throwing a Fourth of July party and looking for some patriotic games to play. You really want the kind of fun that adults can enjoy, not just drinking contests or potato sack races–although they would be great too! Here are five 4th of July themed adult games so you don’t have to worry about entertainment next time:
These are my favorite patriotic games for adults
Red White & Blue
Divide everyone up into teams as America’s colors (red/white on one team and blue on another). Have each member run around collecting items from red, white, or blue piles while other members try to tag them with bubbles without getting caught in their own bubble net. First person back wins points for their team by placing collected objects where corresponding color is shown
Political Darts (Drinking Game)
Most people have some type of opinion about politics this time of year and particularly with it being a Presidential election year. This game is rather simple really. Post a picture of Donald Trump’s mug on the wall and right next to it, Joe Biden. Now throw darts at them as though you would a dart board, but score it like this:
-
Forehead – 20 points
-
Right Eye – 30 points
-
Left Eye – 30 points
-
Nose Bullseye – 100 points
-
Mouth – 30 points
-
Chin – 30 points
-
Any other part of face – 10 points
Patriotic Charades
There are a million themes you can do here. Go with Presidential charades, political figure charades, independence day charades, famous Americans charades, etc. There are countless things you can do here. The key is to tie in the 4th of July if possible and to keep things moving with several groups if the party is larger.
The Blowout
Teams are given an American flag each at time zero (at least 20 feet apart), then every few seconds they blow into their flags trying to get them as close together without touching. At any point if one teammate bumps another or touches someone else’s team member’s flag, all three members from that side must go back 10ft/foot mark on the ground before continuing again until once last person is left standing on their own territory – whichever angle has touched first wins.
Red White & Blue Stripes
This is an awesome twist on beer pong where one side shoots cups filled with water into another team’s cups which have blue stripes painted around them (representing Old Glory). The first person who successfully sinks all three shots wins. This may take more than two rounds because sometimes people purposely miss their shots so they aren’t out as quickly or even at all if there are
Red Rover
One person from each team stands in the middle with their arms stretched out wide. The other players try to break through by running between them as fast they can while shouting “Red rover! Red rover!”. When one player is finally able to make it across, or if any part of him touches his opponent on either side he yells “over” and then takes their place standing up against the wall until someone else makes it over
Trivia
This is just like it sounds! Get your trivia questions together ahead of time or go on Google–there’s tons out there!–and get all set up before everyone comes over. Everyone has to answer as many true/false, multiple choice or short answer type questions from different categories (like “Name Four Famous American Presidents” ). The person who answers the most correctly wins! It’ll take maybe 10
Trivial Pursuit (American History Style)
This is very similar to patriotic charades but with questions in the Trivial Pursuit style. Many people like to write out some cards with answers on the back ahead of time to keep the party moving. Trivia is always a big hit with some in the group and it can be played while you relax. That is always a good thing to have on hand at any party because not everyone will be active.
Capture the Flag
Speaking of active, capture the flag can get seriously fun. Get an American Flag and place it somewhere in the playing area. One team will then enter the area to try to find the flag. Once it is located by the other team, the team that hid the flag is released from their spots around the playing field. The object is to then get the flag back to a predetermined spot before they are all tagged. You can pass the flag from person to person. To really amp this game up, attach a picture (or draw) a flag on a football.
Fourth of July Bingo
This is actually a perfect patriotic games for adults and kids. Bingo is a ton of fun and particularly so when prizes are involved. Have everyone pitch in to get some or buy up some smaller prizes yourself for your July the 4th bash. A regular bingo set can become an Independence Day set simply by decorating the cards, balls or spinner. Or you could simply make the prizes themed around the day. (Fireworks, etc)
Whether you are a party planner or simply looking for some fun activities to complete with your friends this 4th of July, these games will be sure to liven up the night. So grab yourself and your favorite adult beverage before diving into one of these patriotic games! You’ll have such an amazing time that you might just forget about all those pesky fireworks outside (or in). Which game sounds like it would be perfect for your next celebration?
