The Emilio & Gloria Estefan Broadway Musical
I was blown away with the Broadway show “On Your Feet!” The Emilio & Gloria Estefan Broadway Musical. ‘Being a 90’s child, I was immersed with their fresh and intoxicating sounds like “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You
” and “Turn The Beat Around
“. They were also known for their heart-wrenching love songs, that were perfect for producing the “ugly cry” during a teenage break up, like “Anything For You
” and “Don’t Want To Lose You
“!
The very moment the lights down and the stage lights up, your eyes will widen and you are immediately back in time 30 years ago! You won’t be able to to help from singing under your breath and wigging in your seat as you are holding back from going into full on concert mode…. but don’t worry, as long as you stay after the bows, you will be able to get up, let loose and sing your heart out! Christie Prades (Gloria) is a splitting image of Gloria, both in looks and her amazingly beautiful voice, you will seriously get goosebumps!
I was actually very surprised by the story, being that I was only 9-10 during the peak of her career, I completely forgot about the tragedy. For those of you that don’t know… I will not put any spoilers on here. About 3/4 of the way through the show, I gasped, and whispered to my daughter “That’s right, I completely forgot about this”. I remember watching her America Music Awards performance on the television and was so inspired by her.
I highly suggest you get your tickets and check out this performance while it is still in Portland. Oh and if you didn’t need ONE MORE REASON to see the show “On Your Feet”, just check out the instagram page of Ektor Rivera (Emilio)….. um, I have no words that can sum that up!!
