Oh boy, where to I begin… first off let me say my sister and I are seriously considering coming back to see NEWSIES again before they move on to their next destination…… THAT’S HOW GOOD THIS PRODUCTION IS!!!!!
Let’s just lay it out there.. NEWSIES has an amazing story line, catchy songs, amazing dancing and choreography…..SEXY masculine men that will make you swoon and oh…. the accent! I have always been a sucker for a New York accent! In the end, I felt like a silly little school girl by how much I was gushing that this was amazing AND the best show I have ever seen!
You will fall in love with lead Joey Barreiro who plays Jack Kelly, his voice is like no others I have heard before…. it very could, make you melt into a puddle right there in the auditorium… it is that amazing!
The dancing was so energetic and spot on! I think this was the first show that I truly forgot that it was just a play and I was able to fully absorb myself into the moment and block the world out around me.
I strongly urge you to take this play in… you will not regret it… but you will regret if you miss it!!! HURRY because they are only in town for the remained of the week. Here is the info to get your tickets now with the only official retail ticket outlets, Broadway In Portland.

Synopsis
Set in New York City at the turn of the century, NEWSIES is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right.
NEWSIES is inspired by the real-life ‘Newsboy Strike of 1899,’ when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst and other powerful newspaper publishers.
