Do you want to see the most fetch show in town?
Then you will want to grab your pink and come on down to the Keller Auditorium
and catch the Broadway sensation Mean Girls while they are in Portland!
Mean Girls has become one of those iconic movies that EVERYONE has seen. It is know for it’s witty one-liners and relatable high school moments. In fact we have all been victim of a mean girl sometime in our lives. As much as I absolutely adore the movie, I couldn’t help but worry if I was going to be disappointed with the Broadway production, after all I know most of the movie word for word. Needless to say, I had some pretty high expectations. I can now whole heartedly say I LOVED this production of Mean Girls from the beginning to end. They made sure to include and touch upon every single magic moment you anticipate!
One of the best inclusions of the show, was their ability to incorporate all the set changes. They had an amazing set up of digital screens that helped seamlessly transform the stage from school, to the mall, to the cafeteria all in a blink.
They did an amazing job with casting. I am sure most of us can agree that all of the characters in Mean Girls is very personality base, as in, we are already coming in with a big idea on how each character should talk, act and interact with others. That is a very hard thing to do when there are very high expectations and I must say they all nailed the characters personalities on the head.
You may be wondering…. what about the songs? Yes, I was curious too how they would blend a sound track in but I love how they embellished the storyline to really reflect the moments and paint the picture to make this on stage performance a fresh blend of comical and emotionally deep. Damian- Eric Huffman, couldn’t have done a better job making you love his character, I left wanting to be his best friend. I absolutely loved his musical number “Where do you belong” performed with Janis – Mary Kate Morrissey and Cady – Danielle Wade. Just wait for the song “What’s Wrong With Me?” song by Gretchen – Megan Masako Haley. We all knew that she was hurting in the movie but you really feel for her and the pain she is going through in the musical.
I highly suggest you go see this show, it offers such a carefree, fun and upbeat mood, something we all need in our lives right now. Tickets are still available.
Please note, they are doing mobile tickets at the moment so, double check that all your information is correct at checkout. And, please reference the Broadway in Portland covid safety protocols below.
