Many of the Thanksgiving traditions I experienced as a kid, I have passed on to my family.
Every Thanksgiving my kids roll out of bed and curl up on the couch to enjoy our favorite part of Thanksgiving… the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. We have improved upon our family tradition and found a way to connect and enjoy the day before the hustle and bustle begins…. we eat dessert first. Yes, that’s right, while the turkey is roasting, we pull out the family pumpkin, apple and pecan pie and thoroughly enjoy it while we watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. As many of you know, you fall into one of two categories… either you are hosting the big dinner, you are not only busy and stressed but rarely do you actually get to “enjoy” any of your efforts OR you are just simply too full. By eating dessert first, we have managed to solve both of those issues.
I would have to say this is my favorite part of Thanksgiving. I love getting to snuggle with my hubby and the kids and enjoy the parade. I just love watching all the Broadway performances and my husband loves watching these leggy, beautiful woman called The Rockettes…. I wonder why 😉 My kids all have their favorites… of course the teens draw near to the television as soon as they see their latest heart throb serenading to them from the floats. While my littles are always thrilled to see the latest balloons…. they were just telling me the other day that they can’t wait to see SpongeBob. I think my family also enjoys hearing every year how “Mommy and Daddy stood right there on the street where that painted Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade logo is”….. can you feel the sarcasm…, yet it is an annual obligatory mention *WINK*.
I think we can all agree… we all look forward to Santa! It has been a long known fact… ever since I was a kids and even before, that HE IS THE REAL Santa 😉
