How to Lower Fat Intake With Six Simple Choices
One of the most important things we can do to give our health a boost is to lower our fat intake. Bad fats are responsible for all kinds of problems with our health including but not limited to high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease and diabetes. What if you could make a huge change in your fat intake by making simple, small decisions? Here are six choices that can change your entire life:
Choose to eat less red meat
Red meats are notorious for being loaded with the types of fats that cause us problems. While red meats are delicious, we can certainly cut back at a minimum. Make your red meat options the exception rather than the rule. When you do eat red meat, choose leaner cuts and smaller portions.
Choose to eat no meat once a week
A good fruit and vegetable cleanse once a week can do wonders for your fat intake. Spend a day just enjoying the plant based foods and you will be off and running to a healthy week of eating.
Choose to substitute for turkey or chicken
Turkey and chicken are wonderful meats that will provide you with tons of nutrition without nearly as much fat. The best thing about turkey or chicken is that it can easily slide into your favorite recipes in place of other meats. Choosing turkey or chicken on a regular basis can really help with your fat intake.
Choose to go skinless
If you really want to cut your fat intake, decide to skip on the skin. Skin generally is going to have a large amount of the bad fats and is super easy to remove. This, coupled with draining out as much grease as possible can make a big difference and make your meat dishes far more healthy.
Choose to skip the fried foods
Fried foods are a huge problem for our society and contribute greatly to our poor eating habits. The problem is that fried foods are just so darn delicious. The good news? Once you put them down for a few weeks you will not like them nearly as much. In fact, some folks end up hating fried once they get used to being away from them. Give it a shot. Your heart will thank you!
Choose to substitute organic for processed whenever possible
Processed foods are the biggest reason in my view as to why we are obese as a society. They are so simple to get and they are so mainstream, pretty much everyone ends up eating them eventually. It does take a conscious effort to skip the processed and go organic, but the decision is truly life saving. Make an effort to go with organic whenever possible and your fat intake will drop dramatically.
