Dare I say…. Love Never Dies, may be better than the original Phantom Of The Opera. This was a huge debate with my husband as we drove home after Tuesday nights performance.
Don’t get me wrong.. I LOVE Phantom of the Opera, if fact it hold a very special and personal touch to us… you see my husband and I “feel in love” during his last year of high school. During that year of school, his top performing marching band played tribute to the Broadway hit and performed it all around the country…. needless to say, it became the music of the year for us and was constantly playing the the background.
The musical Love Never Dies was amazing… this whimsical and mysterious show if very different from the original, yet has the same intoxicating music and drive the you have come to expect from Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Even though Christine (Meagan Picerno) has moved on in life, the passion she shared with the Phantom (Gardar Thor Cortes) is just as intense as ever and that is deeply felt and expressed to the audience. The Phantom is determined to win her back…. all of this leads to a few twists and surprise that I will let you find out on your own… no spoilers here! 🙂
My husbands favorite part….was the Oh LaLa Girls, and I don’t blame them. They added a fun, intriguing and almost naught element to the performance. This is a must see act and fit in so well with the traveling circus theme.
