Thank you Disney for inviting me down to LA and hosting me for the Ant Man and the Wasp interview press junket.
We were all thrilled to in interview Hannah John-Kamen as “Ghost”! I have seen some of her work from Black Mirror, which I am a huge fun of. I however had never heard of the comic book character Ghost, so I was excited to dig in a learn a bit more.
How’d you get involved with the project?
Since she was new to the MCU, we wanted to ask her, “How’d you get involved with the project?”
“I think I screamed and danced to Miley Cyrus.”
So, how does it feel to join the Marvel family?
Now that she is official, we wanted to know how it felt to join the Marvel family? Her first reaction, “Oh, my goodness. It is amazing.” I think everyone can agree that being part of the Marvel family is one that many dream of. She also shared that it is a bit daunting and overwhelming, she stated that “It’s a huge responsibility“. One thing that was on her mind was “How to take this amazing character off the comic book page and be the first person to introduce it into an incredible movie with incredible cast members” which, you know, they’re heroes in life. Over all, her final words were ” So, yeah, it was amazing. Very exciting.”
On Ghost being a Female
We were very curios to get her thoughts on the character Ghost being a female in the movie. Originally she was just as surprised as us and had no idea that Ghost was a male character in the comic books until she googled her character to get more information. “I remember my agents then telling me, oh, yeah, yeah, it’s a man and they’re going a whole different way. I was like great.”
We couldn’t help but notice a softer side to the ghost, and there were definitely moments when we could really feel her true pain. So we had to ask, “So, you have this moment with Laurence Fishburne where you guys kind of have this reconciliation and it looks like Ghost is sort of turning this leaf and maybe heading towards more of a light place where she’s not quite as angry and maybe she’s been healed a little bit. Is there something that we can look for her in the future, like maybe a different role in Avengers movie?
What’s it like just using the special effects in your imagination as you’re acting?
We have heard from many actors that working with CGI and the green screen is just a whole new level of acting, so we were wondering how it was for Hannna. We asked her, ” What’s it like just using the special effects in your imagination as you’re acting?”
