The Greatest Friday The 13th Flicks of All Time
Friday the 13th is coming on January 13th, 2017, do you believe in the superstition? The day has long held negative connotations and for some superstitious folks, the fears trace back as far as the beginning of time. Some believe that the origin of the date was when Eve bit the Apple, while others simply think the number itself is unlucky. Friday the 13th is a day when some folks like to stay in bed. Perhaps even curl up with a good movie!
Why not curl up this Friday the 13th with a few classic horror movies of the same name? The Friday the 13th series of movies has plenty of choices for you. Some watch them for the thrills and chills, while others watch to laugh at the silliness of it all. Regardless, Friday the 13th is the perfect chance to kick back and get spooked!
There are currently 12 titles in the series and all of them are famous for one thing or another. Some are famous because they are so bad, while others are famous for their legendary standing in the industry. Here is a look at my top three choices when it comes to sitting down and simply enjoying a scary movie:
Friday the 13th Part II
Part II is my favorite entry in the series simply because it was the first horror movie that introduces Jason as the main character. Voorhees comes back to avenge his mother’s death at the end of part one. It still has that chilling music and will make your skin crawl with dread.
Friday the 13th (modern version from 2009)
No doubt someone is throwing their popcorn at me right now, but this was a great movie. Cheesy for sure, but the movie kept you jumping throughout. I also really enjoyed the updated Jason with modern CGI and graphics.
Friday the 13th Part 7 – The New Blood
This one is simply hilarious. It has everything you want in a hokey horror flick. It is genuinely scary in parts, funny in others and keeps you interested throughout. Imagine a girl with psychic powers using those powers to fight Jason Voorhees. Your welcome.
Friday the 13th is not the movie series I would go with if I was looking for intellectual stimulation. If I want to kick back with a huge bowl of popcorn to celebrate the Friday the 13th holiday, however, it works just perfectly. The movies are fun, scary and keep your focus on something other than superstitions and bad luck.
