What should you have in your base full pantry supply? A Lot of this should be a given but in a case of emergency, like a natural disaster or the current case of the Coronavirus. We should all have these very basic pantry items on hand at all times. As we can see with the toilet paper shortage, we would never want to be caught without these items, especially is stores are not available for several weeks.
How to determine how much to buy!
When you are shopping to have a full pantry, you will want to conciser a few things before you go our and buy 5 packages of salt.
Consider expiration date, you don’t wan to go all out and stock up on crazy amounts of food that could go bad or take up unneeded space. You will want to think about how much you use in a month and make sure that you always have that minimum in your full pantry supply. For each person that is going to look a little different. For my family of 9, we will need to have quite a bit more that a family size of 4. Some may look to make homemade bread in the event that stores are closed and you can’t find bread in stores or you might have kids that love fruit and would eat it daily.
You are also going to want to think beyond just dinner. A lot of times when we evaluate our pantry we think of just dinner but you also need to think that in the event of an emergency, you will likely be home 24/7 and need to be supplying all 3 meals and snacks for the whole family.
To keep yourself in stock of these items, you could use Amazon Pantry. Amazon will send you these items however often you need them on a reoccurring basis. This is so nice because you will never have to worry about ordering them again. Plus, when you subscribe you will save an additional 15%.
