Five Really Cool Facts About Mickey Mouse
Mickey Mouse has always been a pretty cool character and one of the first that kids would look for when visiting Disney World Attractions. He is, after all, the primary character that Disney World is built upon. Created by Walt Disney himself, Mickey is a world-wide icon of animation. If you are planning a trip to Disney World or one of their many world wide parks or resorts, Mickey is sure to be a symbol that will be front and center.
Getting up to speed on your Mickey trivia is important when you go to visit these places. Whether it is stump your traveling companions or to simply show just how intelligent you are on all things Disney, learning about the primary Disney symbol and character is sure to come in handy.
Here are five really cool facts about the legendary Mickey Mouse that your friends are not likely to know:
Mickey Mouse was almost not “Mickey” at all
If good old Walt Disney were really in charge, Mickey would have been named “Mortimer Mouse” instead. Thank goodness his wife had the good common sense to insist on the name Mickey instead. Walt conceded and the cultural icon was born. Legendary film star and comedian Mickey Rooney claimed that Mickey was named after him. He did meet Walt Disney in those early days as a child and certainly went on to star in many Disney productions. Who knows?
Mickey Mouse was averse to wearing anything twice
Okay… so Mickey had little to say about the matter but one could draw those conclusions if they paid attention. It is a known fact that Mickey Mouse wore at least 175 different outfits over the years. To say that he was a snazzy dresser would be an understatement and generally his creators used good fashion decisions. Despite this, they did have a strange thing for suspenders and two buttons up front that regularly showed up in his wardrobe.
Mickey Mouse always had perfect circles for ears
Huh? Yep….his creators and Disney apparently insisted on it for consistency. Go ahead and measure them. You will find that they were always right on point. (no pun intended)
Mickey ears are everywhere
One of the coolest games that you can play with your family is to find the Mickey ears. This game is viable anywhere that Disney is involved in any way. This includes Disney Movies, Disney cruises, Disney World, Disney Resorts and anything else that has relation to the Magic Kingdom of Mickey. Why? They thought it would be cool to hide the ears everywhere for folks like us to find and search for. It really is only about fun and not some secret coded message like some folks have insinuated over the years. If you look for them, they will appear to you.
The original theme park was nearly called “Mickey Mouse Village”
The reason this fact is so cool is because it shows just how central Mickey was to the company in the earliest of days. Mickey Mouse was meant to be a character and ended up being “the” character to launch a million dreams.
