Fiddler on the roof is the first Portland Broadway Musical of the year. This show takes you on a journey back, long ago into a Jewish community set in a pre-revolutionary Russian village. They weight of the world is on the shoulders of a poor milkman YEHEZKEL LAZAROV (Tevye) who has the responsibility to find good husbands for his five daughters. Back in the day there was no “falling in love” you had to follow the tradition of finding a suitable mate through the help of a “matchmaker”. After he consults the traditional matchmaker and also has a word with God, he decided to go againts the tradition and allow his daughter to follow her heart and let love play a role in her decision to marry.
