While in LA last month, I was able to go on another adventure! I was able to walk the set of Dr Ken…. have you seen the show? Dr. Ken is now in its second season and airs on ABC, Friday nights 8:30 PM EST! Tune in to tonight’s NEW episode!
Being on set was amazing, Dr Ken is one of the few sitcoms that is actually still taped in front of a live audience….. so those laughs you hear are the real deal. Because of this being a live set, the layout is so much more different that the one I saw for Speechless. The Dr Ken Set is all open, facing the audience in the bleachers, because of this…. the set is much smaller than it appears on television… they really had to use creativity to fit everything in having all rooms side by side. Yet the hospital looks so real and large on television, don’t you think?
It is truly amazing how much the sets are so homey with little detail left untouched, like the pictures and personal notes on the fridge. Just look at the kitchen, I left saying “I wish my kitchen looked like this”.
The cast was amazingly sweet and friendly, they really took the time to go out of their way to mingle with us bloggers and stop to take picture after picture and ask us about ourselves.
Ken Jeong as Dr. Ken, Suzy Nakamura as Allison, Tisha Campbell Martin as Damona, Jonathan Slavin as Clark, Albert Tsai as Dave, Krista Marie Yu as Molly, Dana Lee as D.K. and Dave Foley as Pat.
Guest cast: Cheryl Bricker as Linda, Gillian Vigman as Megan, Veronica Mannion as technician.
We got to go up into the bleachers for a little Q and A. You can really feel the the cast is passionate about what they do and that they are super FUN to be around. They laugh, joke and support each other to the fullest. Fun Fact, did you know that Ken Jeong plays a doctor on the show and used to be one in real life?!?! That is one busy guy!
Tonight’s episode: “D.K.’s New Girlfriend” – When D.K. overhears Allison complain about him overstaying his welcome, he decides to move in with his girlfriend of three weeks. Meanwhile, Pat wants Dave to pretend he’s his adopted son; and Allison is convinced Molly wants to talk about something when she suggests they do a spa day, but the tables turn when Molly is the one doling out the advice, on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2 (8:31-9:00 p.m. EST), on the ABC Television Network.
