It is with heavy heart that we will be celebrating Christmas for the first time without my grandmother this year, she passed away earlier this year. For years she had spent the special day with our family. It started with her spending Christmas with us for just one year and then turned into a special Christmas tradition…. one that I looked forward too so much. In our house, Santa comes to everyone, no matter how old you are….. you just have to believe 🙂 I was so excited that I was able to give her a first….. it wasn’t til she had celebrated with us that she had a stocking. It was so fun seeing her get excited about Santa visiting and the kids loved sharing the morning with her and hearing the stories.
One of the families most cherished gifts from her was our family set of Christmas cups and saucers. She had made sure there was enough cups for all of us and she had gifted it with several canisters of Stephen Gourmet Hot Cocoa. For years we would make hot chocolate while the kids watched movies and snuggled up from the blustery weather. Of course not any old hot chocolate will do… it always had to be “grama’s” special Stephen Gourmet Hot Cocoa , especially the Candy-cane Cocoa!
So far this year has been very bitter-sweet, the kids have asked to use “grama’s cups” several times this year, I think this is helping them cope during this very difficult transition. I am making sure I make it just the way Grama did, with Stephen Gourmet Hot Cocoa because it is the BEST, it is the richest and creamiest old fashion cocoa around. I hope this is a tradition my kids pass down to their children and keep Grama’s Christmas tradition alive.
