A new Cirque Du Soleil is coming to Portland at the Moda Center, March 14-17th. This mystical show will take you to a whole new world and heighten your senses…. just as you would expect from any Cirque show.

Corteo, which means “cortege” in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.

The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality.

The clown Mauro has passed, but his spirit is still with us. Instead of mourning, the funeral cortege celebrates the here and hereafter with laughter and exuberance. Rich, extravagant memories frolic with the senses. The sound of laughter peals around the stage, visions of joyous tumblers and players fascinate the eyes. Regret and melancholy retreat in the face of a cavalcade of lively recollections of a life gloriously lived. A festive parade that entertains; the perfect accolade for an artist whose life was dedicated to revelry and making merry.

Love’s majestic highs

Bella! Bella! The lovers of dead clown Mauro gather to reminisce on a life jubilantly lived. Lithe bodies channel bittersweet memories as they dance suspended from a grandiose chandelier.

A bed that puts some bounce into life

A cheery renaissance of our departed hero’s exuberance and zest. His fellow travellers gambol and cavort on outsized beds in celebration of the mischievous prankster’s gleeful past.

Look to the skies, laugh from the bottom of your soul

A fantasy of flight, a moment of lightness for a soul that must leave behind all earthly delights. When the clowness descends from the heavens, send her on her way again with a delicate touch of love.

Pride comes before a fall… and a triple somersault

Strutting young gallants face off in a daring show of chutzpah. Who will back down, who will be catapulted to new heights… or will humour win out in the end?

Horizontal bar meets straight-up genius

A fitting farewell for Mauro, a jubilant pageant of stunning coordination and grandiose strength. This is how to say goodbye to life with bravura.
