Cheap Spring Date Ideas for Couples
Springtime has a way of bringing out the best in people. The crisp air and wonderful weather does wonders to lift our spirits, helping us to get up and moving. It’s also a wonderful time to have a partner! Date ideas during the spring are plentiful, but sometimes coming up with some new cute date ideas can be tough.
Here are some fun and unique spring date ideas perfect for a first date or long seasoned couples.
Take A Spring Train Ride
Riding on a train is extremely romantic and luckily, very affordable in most places. One spring afternoon just hop a train and ride together with no particular place to be. The scenery is stunning and you might just find something fun to do when the train stops as well! If you are in the Portland area, the Mt Hood railroad has a whole host of day train trips, like the fruit loop. Here you can go on a 2 and a half hour ride through Parkdale and see all the cherry and apple trees in bloom.
Go on a ride down memory lane
If you or your partner grew up locally, take a road trip to your old haunts. Visit where you were born, your first schools and anywhere else that has history. This is a great way to churn up some new conversation and learn a little bit more about your partner that may not have come up in other conversations. You can also take a memory ride through your dating history, visit that old ice cream shop, your first date to mini golf or go to where you both first fell in love.
Plant a garden
Getting out and create a garden, be it for food or beauty, is a fantastic way to have day date fun. Getting to pick out the plants or seed will be a date that keeps on giving all season long. Knowing that you both planted something together and will get to enjoy it forever is a great feeling. A playful water hose is optional.
Clean up the local park
Clean up? You bet! Getting outside to help make the community better together is a wonderful way to enjoy one another’s company. Think about it. When you feel good about yourself, you are at your very best. Doesn’t your partner deserve that? This could really be a fun date, especially if you live in an apartment and don’t have the ability to do yard work. Beautifying something and leaving something better than you started is a great way to start the spring season.
Hit the local zoo
The zoo is at its very best during the spring months. The weather is generally cool, the animals are active and the prices are generally reasonable. This is the perfect time to take your date and enjoy the smaller crowds!
Find a Scavenger hunt
If you go online, you can find several options for downloadable scavenger hunts in you town or even a new town near you to try something different. They will take you on a journey of landmarks and attractions as well as places to eat. Many are walk-able and take about 2 hours from start to finish.
Visit a Food Truck village
I can’t speak for all cities and states but here, in Portland Oregon, we are the capital of food trucks. We have several food truck villages that have everything you could imagine, from the fun and unique to traditional…. all in different ethnicity and styles. Go with a budget and don’t forget to get pictures for the gram 😉 TIP: look for villages that have plenty of dry seating and heaters, if you are looking for cheap date night ideas this is a really fun one to get out and try something different.
Go to a National Park
Most states have a national park, some more well known that others but there should be a fun day date destination to get you out into nature. These national parks are usually an adventure all by themselves, with plenty to do and see. Pack a picnic and some snacks….. even the camping gear if you are wanting to make this a date weekend.
Go On a Bike Ride
Nothing says spring like a bike ride, remember how it felt as a kid when you finally got to go on that first bike ride after being coupe up for the winter? getting out with your date and breathing in the fresh air and getting the heart pumping is a fun and budget friendly date that is perfect to add to the bucket list
Stay Home and Have a Romantic dinner date night outside
Who says you have to go anywhere to have a fun date with your partner? With any luck you might be able to eat under the stars, grab some take out and cuddle up at home out in the peace of the evening. This is a great option if you have kids and still want to have a “date night” after they go to bed.
