HAMILTON – Playing Portland Oregon
PERFORMANCES FROM APRIL 13 – MAY 1 AT KELLER AUDITORIUM
Are you looking for the best show around Portland? Nothing can beat the performance of the hit Broadway show Hamilton. Well guess what? Hamilton is playing in Portland. This is my third time seeing Hamilton, once in San Francisco and two times in Portland. Let’s just all agree on this one thing, Hamilton never gets old, I could watch this show over and over again and still have the same love for it as if it were the first time.
What I love about seeing different cast, is they all have a tiny different spin or “emphasis” on their character or and important part of the show. It always seems to give me a better understanding of the moment or feeling. I must say, the character that stole the show last night, hands down was Thomas Jefferson Paris Nix! His over the top “pimp like” persona had me conflicted, part of me just wanted to laugh so hard at his arrogant sexy ways but then a part of me was like “Ooooh DAMN!”
My favorite song is “Satisfied” sung by Angelica Schuyler Marja Harmon the passion and pain in this song gets me every time. When you really listen to the lyrics and then see it acted out on stage, it is beyond crushing. You can really feel the love and sacrifice she was feeling for Hamilton Julius Thomas III. As the play progresses you see that that longing never faded and that she always yearned for him.
Throughout the show, I found my self constantly getting goosebumps from the voice of Arron Burr Donald Webber Jr, plus he was VERY easy on the eyes, to say the least. His voice though was so strong a smooth, spot on to what I expected. I think he may have been my favorite performer of the night. With that said, he only wins by a fraction because the whole cast was amazing. The voices and personality are spot on to what you imagine, especially if are a hard core Hamilton fan and listen to the soundtrack as much as I do.
This show really is a must see, and I am thrill to share with you, that they want everyone to have an opportunity to see the show. This is why they offer Hamilton lottery tickets!
