Catch BEETLEJUICE playing at the Keller Auditorium from April 9 – 14, 2024
Step right up, ladies and gentlemen, and prepare to be transported into a zany, ghostly world where the afterlife meets the living in the uproarious Broadway sensation, “Beetlejuice”! Nestled in the heart of Portland, Oregon, at the illustrious Keller Auditorium, this wild ride of a musical has been causing a stir and raising spirits (pun intended) from the stage to the rafters.
From the moment the curtains part, you’re whisked away into a kaleidoscope of colors, costumes, and chaos that only Beetlejuice can conjure. The set design alone is a feast for the eyes, with its intricate details and whimsical nods to the beloved Tim Burton film. But it’s not just the visuals that captivate; it’s the electrifying performances that truly bring this haunted tale to life.
At the helm is none other than Beetlejuice himself, portrayed with devilish charm and razor-sharp wit by the incomparable lead actor Justin Collette. Every inappropriate line, every gesture, every hair-raising moment is delivered with impeccable timing and infectious energy that leaves the audience edger for more. To be honest, I instantly had a little crush on his character, he embarrassedly makes you love him instantly.
But Beetlejuice isn’t the only star of the show. The entire cast shines brightly, each member bringing their own unique flair to their roles. From the lovable misfit Lydia Isabella Esler to the hapless couple Barbara Megan McGinnis and Adam Will Burton, every character bursts with personality and heart, making it impossible not to root for them as they navigate the kooky world of the recently deceased.
And let’s not forget about the music! The infectious tunes will have you tapping your toes and humming along long after the final curtain call. From the catchy opener “The Whole ‘Being Dead’ Thing” to the show-stopping finale, each song is a toe-tapping delight that perfectly complements the madcap antics unfolding on stage.
But perhaps the most remarkable thing about “Beetlejuice” is its ability to balance humor with heart. Yes, there are plenty of laughs to be had, from the witty one-liners to the slapstick gags. But beneath the surface lies a touching story about love, loss, and the power of friendship that will tug at your heartstrings in unexpected ways.
So, if you’re looking for a night of pure entertainment that’s equal parts spooky and spectacular, look no further than “Beetlejuice” at the Keller Auditorium. But hurry, because like all good things, this ghostly extravaganza won’t be around forever. Grab your tickets, buckle up, and get ready for the ride of a lifetime!
