As many of you all have known, I was at Mom 2.0 for the last several days in Pasadena networking and meeting all my amazing blogger friends. Then my husband is bringing the rest of the family down for a little Disney family fun. All was fun and great until…..
In the middle of the hustle and bustle of traveling, packing, unpacking and like all moms…. just trying to keep my head above water trying to “doing it all.” My daughter called me and reminds me, she needs a prom dress and shoes by the 20th. At this moment, I have so many things running through my head….. first, “oh crap,” second, how are we going to have time to fit this into our packed schedule, followed by, this is a special moment in her life and I am not there for her, along with all the other nasty Mom voices we have floating around in our heads.
*** time to take a breath***
Earlier this morning I had just finished visiting the Amazon suite and learned about a new program where I can “be there” for my daughter, even if only virtually.
Time to put the Mom cape on!
Amazon has rolled out their new Amazon Teen login. This program allows you to link your teen to your account with their own login. When they login, they can shop around, put items in their cart and send it off to you for final approval to accept or deny their purchases via text within 48 hours, and approve with a simple Y for approval.
If you want to give them a bit more freedom or they want to shop holidays or birthdays in secret, you can approve a shopping limit. Say you want to allow them to spend $20 on Father’s Day, you can set up a pre-approval for them to purchase items up to that amount without your additional consent.
Following up on my text to my daughter, I let her know that she was going to be able to log in to Amazon herself and pick out a few of her favorite dresses, shoes and accessories and that we could go through it together, she was thrilled. Not only did she feel kinda mature in taking the lead of her own independence, but she was also NOT at it alone. She was able to share with me her ideas and fun fashion sense, creating a much-needed bonding moment even when I couldn’t be there right by her side.
I am so thankful for this program, because if it weren’t for this…. well, then we would have been scrambling around last minute looking for a dress and matching shoes the day before Prom and it would not have been a happy experience. I have been there before with my oldest daughter…. you never find what you are looking for at one store. Usually it goes down like this: you go to 5 stores, try on 10 dresses at each store, 10 hours later, go back to the first store and purchase the first dress you tried on. 😉
I’m so happy amazon has allowed me to be there for my daughter, even when I couldn’t be right there beside her.
If you would like more information about Amazon Teen Login, you can find it HERE. The Amazon Teen login is free and if you have Prime, allows you to share some of the benefits you have grown to love, such as Free Two-Day Shipping.

This sounds like a great programme from Amazon and I love that it gives teens the ability to do their prom shopping but lets you know what they are looking at and checking out as well.

I love that you can also set a budget – so if they are looking for shoes… you can set, no more than $50!!! Love this

This is a great idea; however, I still like the idea of going to boutiques and trying dresses on. I’m probably just old school though.

I like going into stores too, but more and more, especially with real reviews and pictures, I have gotten more confident with ordering online.

I am always hesitant to buy clothes from Amazon since I have seen some wacky things come back that do not look like their descriptions online, but I know that just depends on the seller. Love getting shoes from Amazon! Would definitely make shopping for prom easier 🙂

I hear you… I felt the same, but I am starting to feel more comfortable with reviews. I always try to leave an honest review to help the next person.

I love Amazon for formal wear – it can be really, really difficult to find what you need locally (Especially here in Seaside – usually have to drive to Portland to do that kind of shopping!), and Amazon makes it so easy and more affordable too. My bridesmaid dresses came from Amazon as well as my bridal veil, tiara and other accessories. The dresses and shoes your daughter picked are so pretty!!

This is a great program. This also probably teaches kids to shop responsibly – a lesson I have yet to learn!

What a great addition to the amazon platform! I’ll have to tell my sister about this so she can set her kids up with it! Thanks for sharing!

Prom shopping can be quite the hassle. This makes it very easy for all of us.

This sounds like a great program from Amazon. I love that it gives teens the ability to do their prom shopping online if they are okay with that.

Yes, I have noticed that. I find it a great Amazon feature to make online shopping for teens a whole lot easier?

What a sweet post! I think I’m going to allow my daughter to do this on her 16th birthday June 5th. She’ll go crazy! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

I wish this service was available when I was teen! It would have been superb to shop online!

OH I haven’t heard of this before! I can’t imagine how awesome it must have been to shop on Amazon Teen for prom. I buy just about everything on Amazon.

Amazon is my favorite shopping site and even more so now. I let Alyssa and Abby log in and add stuff to my cart and this feature has saved me many headaches. Anyone with teens needs to try it.
