We have less than four months left this year, which is just insane to me. It feels like it should be March or April. But nope, somehow we are at the brink of it being fall. Honestly, I’m here for it! One thing that I have noticed, however, is that health goals (that most of us set) at the end of last year, or at the beginning of this year, have been pushed to the side. It was easy to do this when most of us were working 24/7 from home, with kids who were also at home (learning), and the home chores, work tasks, and the kids’ school seemed to pile up non-stop. Who had/has time to focus on physical and mental health? Not me, that’s for sure! But now that we are four months out from 2022, it has given me a big reality check and I think that it’s time to get my health back in check. If you are with me, here’s my best list of ways to get your health back in check. Come along for the ride with me!
Start each morning
Step 1: start your health journey each morning. Set the stage to make the day great. Chug a glass of lemon water, make sure you take care of your skin, teeth, and body each morning, try to get in a workout, and get some sun. Don’t forget a nutritious breakfast, too. I’ve found that if you can start each morning on the right side of the bed (literally), it can make the rest of the day that much easier – and better. You know what will help you out each day. Maybe it is giving yourself affirmations, reading the bible, writing down positive things that you experienced the day before, or checking your email with a cup of coffee, to get a head start on your work day. Whatever it might be, do it! Your goal each morning is a few things:
Have a healthy start: workout, drink a green smoothie, or make a plate of protein, fat, and vegetables, chug a glass of lemon water, and do some dry brushing on your skin before hopping in the shower. You know yourself best, so whatever you do, just make sure you have a healthy start to your day!
Reduce stress: Mental health is just as, if not more important, than physical health. Prioritize this by reducing stress and finding ways to add positivity into your day. Get a head start on your work by answering emails. Add positivity by telling yourself what you rocked yesterday and what your goals are for today. Make a list of things you need to do – and then get everything done!
Your mornings are KEY to making your entire day go flawlessly. You can do this!
Focus on high-quality foods
I’m not here to judge you if your diet lately has been filled of pizza rolls, cake, and soda. However, I am here to tell you that now is the time to start focusing on high-quality foods, to make sure that we are healthy and strong. This is really important when it comes to taking care of your body AND preventing illness!!! Win-win, right? Get grass-fed, organic, pasture-raised meats from local farmers. Choose local, organic produce whenever possible. Soak rice and grains before cooking them to make them more digestible. This is so easy to do, but it is an intentional decision that you have to make for yourself.
Clean up your air
Air quality is also a really important aspect to health. The good thing about this? The weather is about to be AMAZING, so you should have a very easy time opening up your windows and enjoying the fall breeze. If you don’t want to open your windows, then make sure you are changing your air filters regularly, run an air purifier, and add in house plants. Make sure that you’ve also removed toxic chemicals like cleaning products, candles, and more.
