During this press junket, we were able to interview Andrea Roth who plays “Melissa Bowen”, Miles Mussenden who plays “Michael Johnson” and Executive Producer Joe Pokaski. During these interviews, we were able to learn a several “Fun Facts” that make me love this series even more!
15 Fun Facts About Cloak & Dagger
- The idea of Cloak & Dagger was written up 5 years ago for ABC Family and sat in a desk drawer waiting to become what it is today. Once ABC Family became FreeForm, they began to move forward with the show.
- Just because this show is “Marvel” does not make it “family friendly” for all – there are some VERY adult situations, many you will even see in episode 1. However, this is what also draws you in to the very raw and real emotions.
- There are 10 episode in the full season, but they are already hoping to get picked up for a second season.
- Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is Freeform’s best-ever digital debut in the network’s history with 7.3 million views.
- It is Freeform’s biggest series debut in over two years.
- The show is based and filmed in New Orleans. They joked that NY was off the table, that city is already too protected. 😉
- Even though they are focusing on the characters at the moment…. there is a hint of a “superhero” costume in episode 4.
- FreeForm and Marvel knew that they were pushing the limits and breaking the mold on some very “real and gritty” situations and topics, however they are very pleased with the outcome and how it is being received.
- Cloak & Dagger is getting majorly noticed for their amazing music choices. They said that they purposely choose not to use main stream music and fully give credit to their sound mixing team to really draw in the emotions.
- Make sure you pull out your phone and get on twitter during the live episodes. The panel admits to “being in the seat next to you” by tweeting during the show and cluing you in with hints, tips and Easter eggs that will help you put pieces of the puzzle together.
- They auditioned over 1,000 leads, however they had stars Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson/Cloak and Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen/Dagger improve audition in a cemetery and they said the chemistry was so natural. After the reading they felt a huge sense of relief knowing they found their stars!
- They both have very different home lives, yet both are rocky in their own ways, however as the season moves along they hint at redemption and healing.
- Many of you may already know this… but I didn’t. Cloak and Dagger are actually comic book characters.
- The character Cloak can see a persons fears and Dagger can see a persons hopes and dreams.
I am completely sucked into the series…. and you will be too with the very first episode. Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), have an amazing connection that you can sense right from the beginning. If you have not heard about this new series, here is the synopsis .
