Summer is the perfect time for BBQs. The sun is shining and the weather is hot. As soon as the sun comes out, so can the BBQ!
Inviting your friends over to your home is the easy part of any BBQ. The difficult part can be finding food that everybody is going to enjoy. Without spending hours preparing and cooking endless dishes for your guests to enjoy, it’s a great idea to stick easy to prepare, or pre made foods.

- Pretzel Bites
There’s no doubt that your guests are going to be diving straight into the bowl full of pretzel bites during the afternoon because they are a super light snack. They have a crunchy outer layer with a super soft centre, and are perfect to pair with your favourite dipping sauces as a starter
- Sweets
Sweets may not be the healthiest snack, but they are enjoyed by the majority of people. They are light and easy to eat. Throw some sweets into a bowl for your guests to snack on whilst you’re cooking up the grilled snacks.
- Grilled Beef or Vegetable Burgers
Burgers are a BBQ classic for any BBQ. Grill a bunch of beef burgers and vegetarian or vegan burgers for everybody to dig into alongside your side dishes. They require minimal cooking time and effort, giving you more time to spend with your friends and family.
- Guacamole and Salsa
Guacamole and salsa dips make the perfect addition to any BBQ. They complement several different foods from burgers to eggs to nachos. Guacamole and salsa can be super easy to make yourself, and the best bit is that they can be made in advanced, and stored in the fridge until they’re needed.
- Sandwiches
No BBQ is complete without some sandwiches on the table. Make a bunch of different fillings and leave them out for your guests to snack on throughout the day. Be sure to include a range of fillings, including some vegetarian and vegan options for the none meat eaters at the BBQ.

Crisps are perfect to include as a summer BBQ snack. They can be left in bowls on the outside table to snack on whilst you and your guests spend some quality time together. Muffins are really easy to bake yourself. You can make them as healthy or as indulgent as you like, and there are endless options when it comes to flavours and toppings that you can add. They don’t always have to be sweet either. You can make savoury muffins by adding in some courgette or carrots.
- Grilled Sausages and Hot Dogs
Sausages and hot dogs are another favourite to throw on the BBQ. Grill a packet of pork or vegetarian sausages, ready to throw into a sandwich. Alternatively, you can eat them by themselves with some sauce.
- Cookies
You can’t go wrong with cookies. Whether you prefer chocolate chip, double chocolate, or oat and raisin cookies, there is something for everybody at a BBQ. You can either buy packets of pre-made cookies from your local store, or you can get your baking gear on and make some yourself!
- Side Salad
Salad is a great healthy side to add onto any dish at your BBQ. If you’re grilling up a bunch or meat or some vegetarian alternatives, toss up some salad to add onto the plate. You can include whatever you like, but some great foods to add to your salad are lettuce, cucumber, baby plum tomatoes, celery, and some balsamic dressing. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even throw in some avocado.
