Now that school has been in session for a bit… I was quickly reminded that I DO NOT like fixing breakfast for my kids! Shameful as it may be, I am not a morning person! While going to bed, I have visions of being “that mom” who wakes up at 6am on the dot, perky and chipper… immediately, get dressed WITH my hair done. I then head on to the kitchen and wake my kids up with the smell of fresh fluffy pancakes and fresh squeezed orange juice. FAST FORWARD 7 HOURS….. AND reality sets in, we are racing the clock, someone can’t find their right shoe and I am wiping out yesterdays smooched apple off their permission slip.
After the kids are dropped off at school and the dust settles, I see their sad attempts at breakfast. Sometimes it is extremely frustrating….. either I have cereal all over the floor…. toast in the toaster that never got eaten or a HUGE bowl of cereal and milk completely wasted because they got side tracked and never finished…. ALL of this is waste, and I can’t afford waste, especially when all 4 kids are doing this!
Searching around for a solution, I discovered that Albertsons is having their Stock Up Sale…. PERFECT! This way, I can be a sliver of “that Mom” and have the morning routine run smoother, all while saving money.
I love finding great bargains, especially on food. With a large family, food is our biggest expense, and even small savings can be significant.
Once a year Albertsons holds their Stock Up Sale providing extra savings to their shoppers. Albertsons has always given us the items we need at a great price but when you can stock up at great saving…. it is time to clear the cabinets to make room for the stock up haul!

My new, problem solving breakfast plan is ready-made portions. My kids are old enough…. you would think they would know how to pour a proportionate bowl of cereal BUT I guess they need some guidance…. their eyes must be bigger than their stomachs or the time they have to eat it.
So I headed down to my local Albertsons and bought an assortment of breakfast items that are part of the Stock Up Sale including (Honey Nut Cheerios™, Cheerios™, Cinnamon Toast Crunch™, Oui™ by Yoplait® Strawberry French Style Yogurt, Yoplait® Traditional Yogurt, and assorted Nature Valley™ Granola Bars).
With my new idea, I started off with a clear plastic bin. I then made serving size baggies of cereal and bought single serving of yogurt and bars. NOW my kids can go down stairs in the morning and pick out a cereal item and a yogurt…. the theory… zero to little waste. And, now I can keep tabs of my breakfast stock and refill it as it gets low.
